Tanzania lies just south of the equator and is bordered by Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique. To the east lies the Indian Ocean. This vast country is home to one of the largest concentrations of animals which includes 420 species and subspecies of mammals and over 1000 species of birds and 1400 species of butterfly. Parts of its coast and waters are preserved as marine parks and nearly a quarter of the country is protected by National Parks, conservation areas and reserves. |
